Accessing a course

How to find a course?

Go to our Find a Course area where you will have the option to search by:

  • Keyword
  • Group i.e. Oil and Gas, Energy Transition, etc.
  • Subject Area
  • Course Types (Classroom, Field or Virtual Clasroom)
  • Competency
  • Location

We have also developed Subject Area Guides that will also aid your search. These can be found under 'Program and guides' in our Resources area.

What are competency levels?

All courses and programs are based upon a learning structure that allows participants to increase their knowledge and skill. RPS uses four skill levels with standardised terminology:

  • Awareness
  • Foundation
  • Skilled
  • Mastery

What are learning outcomes?

Specific Learning Outcomes are defined for each course and program. Learning Outcomes are defined as specific knowledge and skills achieved as a result of engaging in the teaching and learning experience.

They are statements of achievement, expressed in terms of what the participant is expected to know, fully understand and be able to execute on successful completion of the course and program.

Who is recommended to attend a course and what are its prerequisites?

Each course overview has a 'Who Should Attend and Prerequisites' section which will include the necessary details.

Booking a course

How can I book onto a course?

Members of the Nautilus Training Alliance (NTA) can book on to a course using your member company membership. You will need to book via your member company bookings administrator; if you do not know who this is then please contact us and we can advise you.

Individuals and companies who are not members of the NTA can book on to many of our courses (subject to availability) by creating an RPS Training Account (you will need to follow the registration steps to create an account). Once you are logged in, simply find the course you want to attend and click on the 'Register now' option. Payment can be made by credit card or we can provide you with an invoice.  For further details on payment please go to ‘How can I pay for a course?’.

If you are not an NTA member but would like to find out more about the membership, how it works and the benefits membership provides, then please contact us.

How much are the course fees?

These can be found on the specific course web page however are also summarised in the Event List.

If your company is an NTA member then your training will be deducted from your company’s training precommitment. Please contact your member company bookings administrator for further details.

How can I pay for a course?

We accept payment by credit card (Visa, Mastercard or AMEX*) which will confirm your place immediately. Alternatively, you can request an invoice, which allows you to pay by bank transfer or credit card at a later date, however, your place will not be confirmed until payment has been received. We cannot accept a PO.

*we cannot accept AMEX for CAD ($) bookings.

How do I obtain a receipt for my course registration?

A receipt will be attached to your course booking confirmation email. To request another copy, you can manage this online by logging in to your RPS Training Account and going to 'My Upcoming Courses'.

How do I pay my invoice by credit card once I have registered using the "invoice" option?

To pay for an invoice by credit card, either click the link in the email you received after registering online or click on the Customer Self-Service button at the right of the menu above, select the 'Pay, view or download invoice' link under either Manage My Training or Manage Colleague Training and follow the instructions.

I work for the Government and my agency is GST exempt. How can I register and have the GST removed from my invoice?

We can revise your invoice to be GST exempt, please forward a GST Exemption document from your agency in order to have your invoice revised to GST exempt.

Attending a course

Do I need to organise my own travel and accommodation for the classroom or field course?

For classroom-based courses, you or your company will need to book and pay for your own travel and accommodation.

For field-based courses you will need to book your own travel to and from the field course starting point. Accommodation during the course and in-course transport will be organised and paid for by RPS. Please check the course timings before making any travel arrangements.

If you have been waitlisted on a course, please do not make any travel or accommodation arrangements until you have a confirmed place.

Can you recommend a hotel close to the training venue?

We are unable to recommend hotels however a list of hotels close to the venue will be included in the course joining instructions, which are provided to you approximately one month before the course starts.

How do I obtain course related documentation?

Please log in to your RPS Training Account and click on My Upcoming Courses. From this list, you will be able to amend course bookings, pay invoices and complete registration forms.

 

Course joining instructions and completion certificates are now accessible from the relevant course page of the RPS Learning Hub.

Does RPS provide support for obtaining an entry visa?

Once you have registered and paid for a course, we will send an Invitation Letter via email (at your request) to support your visa application.

Unfortunately, we are not able to provide any other documentation or support in the application or approval process. Please note that visa processing times may vary by country and it is the responsibility of the participant to ensure they have the correct travel documentation.

Will I receive a certificate for attending an RPS training course?

Yes, you will be sent a Certificate of Attendance by email after the course. You can also access a copy of your certificate via the RPS Learning Hub. Log in, then from your dashboard, click on the relevant course page, and go to the certificate section. 

RPS is accredited by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and is authorised to issue the IACET CEU.

How do I cancel my place on a course?

Login to your RPS Training Account and go to 'My Account'. Click on 'View Upcoming Courses' and select 'Amend'. Here you will be given an option to 'Cancel Registration'. Once clicked, you will be asked 'Are you sure?' and click 'Yes, Cancel Registration'.

I can no longer attend but can someone go in my place?

To submit someone to attend in your place, please log in to your RPS Training Account. Go to 'My Upcoming Courses', click 'View Upcoming Courses', select 'Amend' and then 'Replace Participant'.

Can I request a credit for a course I am unable to attend?

No, we do not apply credit towards a future course, but you can move the registration to a future date, subject to availability.

How can I be permanently removed from your mailing list?

To permanently remove yourself from our mailing list or change which emails you wish to receive, follow the steps on our Unsubscribe Page. Additionally, all course email announcements include several links (at the bottom) to edit your email preferences. Clicking these links guarantees that your profile will be updated, including permanent removal from our mailing list when requested.
