N648 Presenting With Greater Confidence
This one-day course will provide an excellent introduction to the skills necessary for effective public speaking. This course is appropriate for all team members, but is particularly valuable for those who need to make public presentations to groups. The sessions will give participants the building blocks for preparing presentations to communicate clearly the intended outcome of the presenter. The material is designed to help participants become clear, confident, and effective communicators.
One classroom day providing 0.8 CEU (Continuing Education Credits) or 8 PDH (Professional Development Hours)
Participants will learn to:
1) Discover the building blocks for preparing and presenting talks or seminar materials in such a way that they communicate clearly your intended outcome.
2) Explore, assess, and implement ways to overcome the central factor in confident presenting which is the management and harnessing of nervousness and fear
3) You will be provided tools for effectively engaging an audience, including how to start and end well in any presentation you are giving
4) You will be given a game-plan for becoming a more effective presenter

Background
Terry Young has over thirty-five years of communication and leadership experience in various settings throughout Canada and in the Pacific Northwest (USA). Having presented to hundreds of audiences, large and small, he has developed an expertise in effective presenting and public speaking. This expertise is shared at a very practical level with those who are seeking to present with greater confidence and clarity. His PhD work, conducted out of Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, (PhD) focused on holding environments for leaders and the need for all leaders to have a secure base from which to lead and live. He is dedicated to encouraging and inspiring leaders and managers towards wise, calm, and healthy engagement on the front line of leadership.
He is currently a faculty member at Ambrose University in Calgary and serves as the Chair of the Professional Studies degree programs at the MA Level. His teaching focus is primarily on leadership related topics such as Sense Making, Resilience, Change Navigation, Servant Leadership, and Leadership Formation and Development. He also served as the President of the Board for The Center for Organizational Reform out of Spokane, Washington and has presented on a wide variety of topics in the areas of organizational change, leader self-care, and the art of human investment.
