Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG)

In the past few years ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) reporting, management, and compliance has become a significant focus area for oil and gas companies. The rapid evolution of the Energy Transition has been so fast over the past year, that many oil and gas companies are struggling to develop the skill sets to ensure that ESG programmes are a central priority across their business. RPS is developing courses that provide an awareness of ESG requirements and a more in-depth understanding of particular ESG issues that will help your organisation to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving market.

RPS' courses will highlight the primary ESG risks to oil and gas business and help you to monitor, report and mitigate these risks. As well as highlighting the risks, the courses will provide foresight to where ESG value can be created. With access to finance now very much dependent on increasingly stringent ESG criteria, understanding the perspectives and reporting requirements for both lenders and borrowers, is essential, bringing to life the vantage points of multiple ESG stakeholders.

Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS)

Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCS) is recognised as being essential to meeting the global emission targets set out in the Paris Accord, removing up to 90% of carbon dioxide emissions produced from industry - playing its part in reducing emissions to the atmosphere by up to 19% by 2050.

What is Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS)?

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is widely accepted to be a major contributor to global climate change. Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) refers to the process of capturing CO2, transporting it to a storage site and depositing it where it will not enter the atmosphere.

The Paris Agreement on climate change, signed in 2015, committed members of the UN to reduce their carbon output "as soon as possible" and to do their best to keep global warming "to well below 2°C” above pre-industrial levels. CCS is one tool in our arsenal to achieve this goal while allowing us to move through the energy transition cycle and continuing to meet demand.
