How to choose a course?
To assist in selecting the best course for you, please go to the Navigation page and select " Courses by Subject". Use the drop-down list to locate the subject matter areas. Subject matter competency maps have been developed to show the courses in each of these areas and to illustrate their relative competency band.
Who is recommended to attend a course and prerequisites?
From the "Courses by Subject" select your "Subject Area" from the drop-down list. Once you have selected your course list from the "Subject Area" complete the drop-down selections to search the recommended courses for you.
What are competency levels?
Awareness: This level requires knowledge, recall of information and comprehension requiring the extrapolation of knowledge. - Basic Application: This category implies analysis or breakdown of knowledge and the of application of knowledge to a new situation. - Skilled Application: This level requires the synthesis and evaluation of knowledge and information.
What is a Field Course
Field courses combine visiting multiple outcrop localities with classroom-based study to provide participants with a unique learning environment. These also potentially involve travel within the field area and multiple lay overs depending on the course itinerary.
What are Learning Outcomes?
Learning Outcomes emphasize the application and integration of knowledge. Instead of focusing on coverage of material, learning outcomes articulate how students will be able to employ the learning, both in the context of the class and more broadly
